Equipment QA/QC
Key Responsibilities
Inspection Planning
Develop and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and checklists for lifting equipment and earth-moving equipment.Plan periodic, pre-use, and post-repair inspections in line with project schedules and regulatory timelines.
Equipment Inspection & Testing
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of cranes (mobile, crawler, tower), forklifts, hoists, winches, slings, shackles, and rigging accessories.Inspect earth-moving equipment (excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, dump trucks, compactors) for mechanical integrity, safety devices, and operational readiness.
Witness load testing, proof load testing, and functional testing of lifting equipment and attachments
Verify structural, hydraulic, and mechanical components for wear, damage, or non-conformance
Certification & Compliance Verification
Verify and maintain valid third-party inspection certificates (TPIC) for all lifting equipment as per statutory requirements.Ensure compliance with applicable codes/standards: OSHA, ASME B30 series, LOLER, DNV 2.7, API, and local regulatory authority requirements (e.g., Saudi Aramco GI standards, ADNOC, Civil Defense).Confirm color-coding system and inspection tagging (monthly/quarterly) compliance for lifting gear.
Non-Conformance Management
Identify, document, and report equipment deficiencies, non-conformances, and unsafe conditions.Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions with maintenance/rental vendors.Red-tag/quarantine non-compliant or unsafe equipment from operation.
Documentation Control
Maintain equipment inspection records, load test certificates, maintenance history, and operator competency records.Compile and manage equipment quality dossiers/data books for audit and client review.Ensure traceability of critical lifting components (slings, shackles, hooks) via register/log systems.
Vendor & Third-Party Coordination
Coordinate with equipment rental companies, manufacturers, and third-party inspection agencies (TPIA) for certification, testing, and audits.Review vendor-supplied equipment documentation prior to mobilization to site.
Site Support & Audits
Perform periodic site audits/spot checks on lifting operations and earth-moving equipment for continued compliance.Support Lift Plan reviews from an equipment-quality standpoint (in coordination with HSE/Lifting Supervisor).Participate in incident/near-miss investigations related to equipment failure.
Reporting
Prepare inspection reports, equipment status reports (fit-for-service/rejected), and KPI reports for management.Track equipment certification expiry and coordinate renewal schedules to avoid operational disruption.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
Relevant certifications preferred: Certified Lifting Equipment Inspector, NEBOSH (advantageous), Third-Party Inspection certification,
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in QA/QC inspection of lifting and/or earth-moving equipment within oil & gas, petrochemical, or refinery environments.
Solid hands-on experience inspecting cranes, rigging gear, and heavy earth-moving machinery.
Experience working with third-party inspection agencies and regulatory certification bodies preferred
