Description

Position: COMMIS / JUNIOR COOK
Salary: SAR 2,000 to SAR 2,300 (based on knowledge and skills)
Location: Laysen Valley, Riyadh

JOB ROLE: The Commis / Junior Cook supports the kitchen brigade in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes to the exacting standards of a high-end, international-cuisine restaurant. Working under the guidance of senior chefs, this entry-level culinary role is an opportunity to develop technical skills, product knowledge, and professional discipline within a fast-paced fine-dining kitchen.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare, portion, and cook ingredients according to standardized recipes, plating guides, and the Executive Chef's specifications.
2. Set up and maintain a clean, organized mise en place for assigned station before and during service.
3. Assist senior chefs and station cooks (Chef de Partie) with daily food preparation and service execution.
4. Maintain strict food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards in line with HACCP and local health regulations.
5. Monitor stock levels at the station and report shortages or quality concerns to the Sous Chef in a timely manner.
6. Store, label, and rotate ingredients correctly to minimize waste and ensure freshness (FIFO practice).
7. Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly, reporting any faults or maintenance needs.
8. Follow plating and presentation standards to ensure consistency in taste, portion, and visual appeal.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
9. Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen; exposure to international cuisine and fine-dining environments is an advantage.
10. Basic knowledge of food safety standards, knife skills, and cooking techniques, with a strong willingness to learn and grow within the brigade.
