Description
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of diesel generator sets used within the terminal.
• Inspect and maintain diesel engines, alternators, control panels, batteries, fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and lubrication systems.
• Troubleshoot engine starting problems, overheating, low oil pressure, electrical faults, abnormal voltage/frequency, and control-panel alarms.
• Conduct routine generator inspections and record running hours, fuel consumption, oil levels, coolant levels, and battery condition.
• Perform scheduled servicing, including oil and filter replacement, belt inspection, coolant checks, battery maintenance, and fuel-system inspection.
• Attend emergency generator breakdowns and restore equipment to operational condition with minimum downtime.
• Test generators under load and verify stable voltage and frequency.
• Inspect automatic/manual changeover systems and generator synchronization systems where applicable.
• Maintain generator maintenance history, breakdown reports, inspection checklists, and spare-parts records.
• Identify recurring faults and report major equipment issues to the maintenance supervisor.
• Ensure standby generators remain ready for operation at all times.
Requirements
• Relevant technical diploma.
• Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience maintaining diesel generators.
• Experience with industrial generators, preferably in a port, terminal, warehouse, logistics, or heavy-industrial environment.
• Strong troubleshooting capability in both mechanical and electrical generator systems.
• Ability to read basic electrical/control diagrams.
