Description
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Pumps & Rotating Equipment (RO & Water Plant O&M)
Location: Khobar
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer specializing in high-pressure rotating equipment, pump overhauling, and reverse osmosis (RO) plant O&M. This role leads field maintenance, major overhaul projects, and plant turnarounds across seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO), water treatment, and power generation facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Rotating Equipment Maintenance: Direct hands-on overhauling, alignment, dynamic balancing, and troubleshooting for High-Pressure (HP) pumps, booster pumps, Energy Recovery Devices (ERDs/ER Pumps), split-case pumps, and multi-stage centrifugal pumps.
RO & Water Plant O&M: Manage preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for SWRO desalination assets, intake facilities, high-pressure piping systems, and chemical dosing systems.
Turnaround & Outage Management: Plan, execute, and inspect mechanical maintenance activities during planned plant turnarounds, major overhauls, and emergency shutdowns in water and power utility plants.
Technical Inspection & Quality Control: Perform precision measurements (shaft runout, mechanical seal faces, bearing clearances) and execute pre-commissioning checks, including shaft alignment record logs.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate mechanical failures, vibration issues, cavitation, and premature seal/bearing wear to implement long-term reliability engineering solutions.
Contractor & Team Leadership: Supervise technicians, millwrights, and sub-contractors during overhauls, ensuring strict compliance with mechanical tolerances and safety standards.
EHS Compliance: Maintain high safety standards (LOTO, hot work, confined space entry) during major overhaul and high-pressure maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum []5–8+] years of direct experience in water treatment plants (RO/SWRO), power plants, or heavy industrial process utilities.
Core Skills:
Proven expertise in overhauling HP pumps (e.g., Sulzer, Flowserve, KSB) and Energy Recovery Devices (e.g., Energy Recovery Inc. PX, Calder, DWEER).
Advanced knowledge of mechanical seals, hydrodynamic bearings, coupling alignment (dial indicator / laser), and dynamic shaft balancing.
Deep understanding of RO O&M operational parameters, high-pressure piping networks, and valve maintenance.
Hands-on experience leading mechanical teams through scheduled power/water plant turnarounds.
