Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems, components, and equipment used in robotic field joint coating systems, pipeline equipment, and specialized machinery.
This role works closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to develop reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs. Mechanical Engineer contributes to engineering, manufacturing, and field operations by applying sound mechanical design principles, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. The role also requires maintaining accurate technical documentation and supporting operational needs, including occasional field technical assistance.

Reporting Status
The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Design & Development
 Assist in the design and development of mechanical equipment and systems for manufacturing, field operations, and product development.
 Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.

 Ensure designs consider manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.
 Support prototype builds, testing, and validation of mechanical designs.

System Integration & Cross-Functional Support
 Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to support integration of mechanical systems with electrical and software components.

 Support Manufacturing, Assembly, and Field Service teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
 Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
 Collaborate with Procurement and Logistics teams to support component selection, sourcing, and vendor alignment as required.

Testing & Troubleshooting
 Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues affecting equipment performance and reliability.
 Support root cause analysis efforts and implementation of corrective actions.

 Support engineering activities related to manufacturing, field operations, and product development projects.
 Travel to job sites or manufacturing locations as needed to support engineering activities.
 Communicate technical issues, findings, and recommendations to senior engineers and engineering leadership.

Continuous Improvement
 Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
 Support implementation of engineering best practices, tools, and standards.

Risk, Quality, and Compliance
 Ensure engineering activities comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory and quality management system (QMS) requirements.
 Support development and maintenance of engineering designs, specifications, and documentation in accordance with established standards and design control processes.

 Identify and report technical risks, design issues, or non-conformances.
 Support design verification and validation activities to ensure product performance, safety, and reliability.
 Maintain accurate and controlled engineering documentation, including drawings, calculations, and revisions.
 Support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to engineering issues.
 Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Operations to resolve non-conformances and improve product performance.

 Support internal and external audits as required.

Qualification Requirements:

Education & Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required; master’s degree preferred.
 Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mechanical design of industrial equipment, automated machinery, or similar systems.

 Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred); AutoCAD is a plus.
 Exposure to industrial equipment, machinery design, or automated systems preferred.
 Basic understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Technical & professional Skills:
 Proficiency in CAD modeling, drawings, and assemblies (SolidWorks preferred).
 Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

 Basic knowledge of drafting standards (ASME Y14.5 preferred).
 Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering-related software tools.
 Good written and verbal communication skills.
 Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
 Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.
