Job Description (JD)
Job Title: Estimation Manager – Mechanical
Department: Estimation / Commercial
Industry: Construction / EPC / Oil & Gas / Industrial Projects
Location: Saudi Arabia
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimation Manager responsible for managing the complete estimation and tendering process for mechanical construction projects. The candidate should have strong experience in cost estimation, quantity take-off, BOQ preparation, material pricing, subcontractor evaluation, and tender preparation, preferably in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Industrial or EPC projects.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and lead the mechanical estimation team and tendering activities.
Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, BOQs and scope of work.
Prepare accurate material and labor cost estimates for mechanical works.
Conduct detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and project specifications.
Prepare and review BOQ, MTO and cost breakdowns.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare RFQs and compare supplier/subcontractor quotations.
Develop detailed man-hour, equipment, material and subcontractor estimates.
Prepare competitive and commercially viable tender proposals.
Analyze project specifications, drawings and contractual requirements.
Identify scope gaps, exclusions, deviations and commercial risks.
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Planning and Construction teams during estimation.
Prepare rate analysis for mechanical items and activities.
Review historical project costs and market rates for accurate pricing.
Assist in preparing technical and commercial bid submissions.
Participate in tender clarification meetings and respond to client queries.
Prepare tender comparison sheets and cost summaries for management review.
Support negotiations with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted within tender deadlines.
Maintain a database of material prices, labor rates, equipment rates and subcontractor costs.
Mechanical Scope Experience
The candidate should preferably have estimation experience in:
Piping fabrication and installation
Equipment installation
Static and rotating equipment
Tanks and vessels
HVAC systems
Plumbing and drainage
Fire-fighting systems
Structural/mechanical supports
Insulation and painting
Mechanical maintenance works
Testing and commissioning
Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Industrial mechanical works
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical estimation, preferably with GCC experience.
Strong knowledge of mechanical construction methods and materials.
Experience handling EPC / Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Industrial projects is preferred.
Strong knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD and estimation software.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical, negotiation and commercial skills.
Good command of English communication.
Preferred Experience
Saudi Arabia / GCC project experience.
Experience with ARAMCO, SABIC or other major industrial clients is an advantage.
Experience in preparing large-scale mechanical tenders and EPC proposals.
Experience managing estimation teams and multiple tenders simultaneously.
